Pink
These have the most symbolic and historical significance. According to Christian legend, carnations first appeared as Jesus Christ carried the Cross. The places where Mary's tears fell as she cried for her son's death were spots where carnations grew. The pink carnation became the symbol of a mother's love and in 1907 was chosen as the emblem of Mother's Day.
Purple
Indicates capriciousness.
Light Red

Deep love and affection.

A symbol of regret that a love cannot be shared.
